Precious silk fabrics unearthed in Nanjing on first-time exhibition

  A group of silk-weaving cultural relics unearthed at the site of the Grand Bao’en Temple in Nanjing returned to Chang-gan-li for exhibition at the Grand Bao’en Temple Site Park. In February 2007, various cultural relics such as gold, silver, crystal, agate and silk were unearthed in the ruins of the Grand Bao’en Temple and, Chang’gan Temple. Among them were nearly 100 pieces of precious silk fabrics. This is the first time for these silk fabrics to return to Nanjing for exhibition after they were restored and repaired in the past decade. Among the total of 58 silk fabrics on display, there are towel, webbing, ladies' clothes, etc., showing the superb weaving and dying process of the areas to the south of the Yangtze River during the Northern Song Dynasty.
