As Suzhou-based Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University (XJTLU) sends off graduates of 2018, a new college eyeing entreprenuer talents in the age of AI is taking shape in this first Sino-foreign cooperation university of Jiangsu province.

“The Entreprenuer College of XJTLU is a creative exploration of a new mode of university education,” said Xi Youmin, Executive President of XJTLU, “in which companies in leading industries will closely join hands with universities to nurture talents who know the industries well and fit in the industries’ needs.”
Six undergraduate programs in the college’s six industry schools have been approved, namely, intelligent manufacturing engineering, data science and big data technology, robot engineering, Internet of Things engineering, supply chain management and art&science.
All six majors have in-depth cooperation with a number of leading companies in relevant industries, such as Haier, Sugon, Siasun, Eolane China, AMT and China Culture Media Group, making it possbile to accelerate the process of turning education and researches into industries.
In the launch ceremony, the six companies signed Memorandum of Understanding with XJTLU.

In addition, the college’s new education mode, with a support platform featuring innovation workshop, research group, standards and intellectual property rights certification as well as industrial alliance, will integrate professional education, industrial training and management education, so as to get the students prepared for entreprenuership.
Located in Taicang, around 80 kilometers from Suzhou, the new campus of the Entreprenuer College will start construction in early 2019, and is expected to put into use in the latter half of 2020, according to Xi Youmin. The first batch of students will be recruited in July of 2019 and based on present campus in Suzhou’s Dushu Lake Higher Education Town.

XJTLU was established under the cooperation of Xi’an Jiaotong University and the University of Liverpool in UK in 2005. It recruited the first 160 students in 2006. With over a decade’s development, the university has more than 1900 graduates this year, 80% of whom recruited by world renowned universities including Harvard, Oxford and Cambridge.
