A Party and Government delegation of Lhasa visited Jiangsu province recently. The delegation was headed by Pema Wangdu, member of the Standing Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Regional Party Committee and secretary of the Lhasa Municipal Party Committee.
Lou Qinjian, secretary of the provincial party committee and director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, and Wu Zhenglong, deputy secretary of the provincial party committee and governor of Jiangsu, met last Friday with the delegation.
Both Lou and Wu extended their warm welcome to the visit of the Lhasa city party and government delegation, congratulated on the new achievements made by Lhasa in economic and social development, and thanked the Tibet Autonomous Region and Lhasa for their support and care to the Jiangsu officials sent to Tibet for paired assistance program.
After briefing the Tibetan guests on the economic and social development of Jiangsu, Lou Qinjian said that the paired assistance program for Lhasa is not only a glorious task handed over to Jiangsu by the Party Central Committee, but also an indispensable political responsibility for the eastern coastal provinces.
The CPC Provincial Chief said Jiangsu will act in accordance with Xi Jinping's new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, resolutely implement the work arrangement of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council and make greater contribution to the new achievements of the paired assistance on the basis of the reality of Lhasa and in accordance with the people's longing for a better life.
He noted that Jiangsu will deepen its cooperation with Lhasa in various aspects, share the practical experience of reform and opening up, and promote the economic and social development of Lhasa through the cooperation between industrial parks on both sides so as to comply with the requirements for high-quality development.
Lou also pledged that Jiangsu will strengthen personnel training, expand industrial cooperation, and promote education and medical assistance for the stable and healthy development of Lhasa so as to better benefit the Lhasa people and work together to achieve high quality development.
Pema Wangdu thanked Jiangsu for its strong support and assistance to the development of Lhasa. He said that under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core and with the help of Jiangsu’s paired assistance, Lhasa has maintained steady development in recent years with social harmony and stability while improving the people's living standards continuously.
He said that the city of Lhasa will earnestly learn from Jiangsu's experience in reform and development, do a good job in economic and social development under the support of Jiangsu, and live up to the ardent expectations of the CPC Central Committee and the deep feelings of the Jiangsu people.
The Lhasa delegation visited Lianyungang, Nantong and Nanjing during its stay in Jiangsu.
