A 13-member delegation led by Jimmy Gomez, the U.S. Representative for California's 34th congressional district, visited Jiangsu Province from July 31 to Aug. 2.

After establishing an official sister-state relationship in 2011, California and Jiangsu Province have made great progress in cooperation in fields of economy, trade, science and technology, education and people-to-people exchange. Jiangsu's investment in California accounts for about a quarter of the province’s total investment in the United States and one-seventh of China's investment in California.

Since its establishment in 2014, Suzhou Industrial Park UCLA Institute for Technology Advancement has successfully launched 3 laboratories, 4 application research and development platforms, and an innovative business incubator (XLAB), with XLAB now developed into an incubator at the national level.

Cultural and education exchanges have always been important parts of the friendly relationship between Jiangsu and California. Under the framework of the 2016 China-US Tourism Year, Jiangsu held promotion activities in Los Angeles. In July 2017, Jiangsu presented books on Chinese culture to California and also opened the Jiangsu Bookstore in the California State Library.

Jimmy Gomez said Jiangsu and California, with many things in common, have achieved fruitful cooperation in economy, trade, science and technology, education, environmental protection and culture. The cities in California are open-minded to participate in dialogues and willing to strengthen contacts with Jiangsu’s cities and counties, jointly explore problems in the process of urbanization and development for stronger and friendly relations.
