More than 100 classic performances will be presented at the Jiangsu Center for the Performing Arts from September 2018 to January 2019, according to an announcement made by JSCPA Wednesday afternoon. Let’s take a look!
As one of the most anticipated festival of JSCPA, the “Mariinsky festival” will present the debut performance of “Swan Lake” together with other classic operas including “Tosca”, “Macbeth” and children’s symphony “Peter & the Wolf”. Other classic performances from foreign countries include opera “Turandot” from Carlo Felly Theatre in Italy; ballet "Giselle" from Australian Ballet; New Year concert by Vienna Symphony; the classic drama “Public Enemy” from the Schaubühne Theatre in Germany and so on.
In terms of shows from Jiangsu Province, the Beijing Opera Academy from Jiangsu Provincial Performing Arts Group will present you with special performances of opera highlights. The Yang Opera Troupe will perform “The legend of the White Snake”; Pingtan Group will perform "Big Wave Scouring the Sand"; Kunqu Opera House will present the Kunqu Opera "Infatuated with the flower”; Xiju Opera Troupe will perform “Song of the Gale”. By performing these original operas from Jiangsu, JSCPA hopes to fulfill the responsibility of passing down traditional Chinese cultures.
