In order to promote the cooperation of cultural and commercial exchange between China and India, China held the 2018 International Yoga Festival Saturday in Wuxi City as the 4th International Yoga Festival of the United Nations is coming soon. More than 2, 000 yoga fans came for this festival, which opened at the Shuiyun Plaza located in Gonghuwan wet land park.
During the yoga festival, three yoga masters from India led yoga fans to experience both the physical and mental practices with the amazing view of Taihu Lake. The representatives from local yoga clubs performed exciting shows for this international yoga festival.
This yoga festival is held by Wuxi International Commercial Organization, Wuxi Federation of Trade Union, Wuxi Admission of Sports, and Wuxi Taihu Lake New City Development Co. Ltd. It also receives the supports from Wuxi Commercial Promotion Institution, the Consulate General of India in Shanghai, the Command of Wuxi Taihu Lake New City Development, Foreign Affairs Office of Wuxi, Wuxi Municipal Bureau of Education, KYM College in China, Yogame and etc.
The Yoga training course was held in Wuxi Worker’s Cultural Center from June 16 to June 18. The professional yoga teacher from KYM College gave classes to hundreds of students. They learned both academic knowledge and physical practice, such as the precise content of The Yoga Sutra of Palangli, which combines poses for breathing and thinking. Among them, the committee invited T. Krishnamacharya, “Father of Modern Yoga”, to explain the core value of his styled yoga, which is an influential genre in the world.
The International Yoga Festival has been held continuously for four years. It was held in Lihu Lake, Wuxi Cinema digital Industrial Park, Lingshan Mountain and Gonghu Lake respectively. The Festival enforces the commercial and cultural cooperation between Wuxi and India, increases Wuxi’s popularity in the world and reinforces local citizens’ sense of health. Now, it becomes one of the symbols of Wuxi.
