Many forums were held during the Nanjing Historical and Cultural Cities Exposition with the guests exchanging their views on the Belt and Road Initiative for sustainable development of culture and cities, museums and the development of modern urban civilization.
More than 20 mayors, mayor representatives and internationally renowned experts and scholars from home and abroad gathered at the main forum to share their views on topics such as historical and cultural heritage protection and urban cultural heritage under the Belt and Road vision.
Many experts stated that under the background of the Belt and Road initiative, culture is becoming an important channel for exchanges and cooperation in different regions. It is therefore of great importance to do a good job of the overseas promotion of the Chinese culture and the introduction of foreign cultures so that the exchange of civilizations can truly become a bridge for revitalizing the friendship between peoples of all countries.
We can carry out kind of collection diplomacy, for example, putting some collections from Western countries and countries along the Belt and Road into the National Museum so as to achieve sharing through exchanges.
At the Inaugural Museum Curator Forum, more than 70 internationally renowned museum curators and experts and scholars discussed topics such as "how museums can develop in the new age."
For many museum curators, the museum is a carrier that preserves the collective memory of the nation and preserves the national cultural genes. The National Museum of China signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and the Nanjing Municipal People’s Government. The participating museums also jointly established the International Museum Director Alliance with the secretariat to be based in Nanjing. An international museum curators’ forum is to be held in Nanjing every year and a special exhibition every two to three years to make Nanjing a city of museums.
