2018 World Historical & Cultural Cities Exposition opens in Nanjing

  The 2018 World Historical and Cultural Cities Exposition kicked off Friday evening at the Jiangsu Center for the Performing Arts in Nanjing. The event was co-sponsored by the UNESCO, Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee Publicity Department and the Nanjing Municipal Government.

  Present at the opening ceremony were Du Yue, deputy director of the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, Dhirendra Bhatnagar, President of the World Federation of UNESCO, Zhang Jinghua, member of the standing committee of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and secretary of the Nanjing Municipal Party Committee, and Mayor Lan Shaomin of Nanjing alongside with more than 300 guests 68 countries and countries.

  The opening ceremony was opened in the familiar melody of Nanjing folk song the Jasmine Flowers, followed by the opera "Zheng He" and modern Kunqu Opera "the Rhyme of the Ancient City " and Yunjin brocade fashion show "Splendid China.

  Since its inception in 2004, the World Historical and Cultural Cities Exposition in Nanjing has become an important platform for leaders of cities from various countries to exchange views and learn from each other and promote sustainable urban development.

  Themed on “mutual learning, sharing, and win-win”, this year’s expo is divided into four sections: museum exhibition, literary publishing, intangible cultural heritage innovation, and urban heritage which will be carried out in seminars, theatrical performances and cultural exhibitions to bring more than a hundred cultural feasts for guests from various countries.
