The Leading Group for the Construction of a Strong Province for Manufacturing Industry held a meeting Tuesday to review and approve Guiding Opinions on Accelerating the Cultivation of Advanced Manufacturing Clusters. The meeting was presided over by Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu.
Governor Wu emphasized the importance of following the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics as a guide to deepen the practice of new development concepts, take the initiative to benchmark high-quality development requirements, further emancipate the mind, deepen the innovation drive, accelerate the transformation and upgrading, and strive to build international competitiveness.
He said more efforts need to be made to promote the province’s manufacturing industry from made in Jiangsu to intelligent manufacturing from Jiangsu.
He called on the province to study and implement the important directives of the General Secretary on the work of Jiangsu and the decision-making deployment of the CPC provincial committee, highlight the development of the brick-and-mortar economy and give a strong impetus to the development of the manufacturing industry.
At present, Jiangsu is undergoing an important shift from made in Jiangsu to intelligent manufacturing from Jiangsu so as to achieve transformation and upgrading, the governor said, adding that the province should firmly grasp the requirements for high-quality development, strengthen problem orientation, and take effective measures to accelerate the construction of a strong manufacturing province.
Wu Zhenglong emphasized that the manufacturing sector is of vital importance for the province’s high-quality development to rank among the best in the country. To this end, the province should focus its attention on strategic emerging industries and advanced manufacturing industries by paying more attention to the key issues, increasing both the stock and increment, fueling the construction of a number of major industrial projects, cultivating highly competitive industrial clusters so as to strive to build the four beams and eight columns for high-quality economic development.
The Governor remarked that it is necessary to further integrate resources, concentrate strength, and make full use of precision to fully support the gathering of key industries and cluster development.
He stressed the importance of improving the capability for independent innovation, accelerating the upgrading of the “Internet Plus” strategy, promoting green development, integrating into the “Belt and Road” initiative for the coordinated development of the manufacturing and service industries.
Wu Zhenglong said the convergence and development will promote the transformation of manufacturing quality, efficiency, and power by strengthening overall planning and coordination of industrial projects, coordinating the policy funds, implementing responsibilities, and form a strong joint force to create high-quality achievements in the construction of a strong province, the promotion of high-quality development in Jiangsu.
In recent years, Chinese companies have been shifting towards innovation and exporting high-quality products that meet the rigorous standards and expectations of global consumers. The development of artificial intelligence (AI) and robots signals a dramatic change in the manufacturing sector.
The "Made in China 2025" plan aims to move the country's manufacturing sector up the value chain, but some argue the level of automation required is several steps ahead of China's current level. If domestic robot manufacturers hope to fill the gap, they will no doubt face fierce global competition.
