Governor Wu Zhenglong presided over the executive meeting of the provincial government Thursday to review and approve the Provincial Government’s Implementation Plan to Promote and Upgrade Information Consumption and Further Unleashing the Potential of Domestic Demand.
Jiangsu will make further efforts for the expansion and upgrading of information consumption which is of great significance for the sustained release of domestic demand potential, deepening the supply-side structural reforms and improving service for the people's livelihood, according to a statement released after the meeting.
We must adhere to the guidance of the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, deepen the practice of new development concepts, adhere to the combination of problem orientation and goal orientation so as to create an upgraded version of information consumption and gather new momentum for economic development, according to the statement.
We must closely follow high-quality development requirements, promote the supply-side structural reform as the main line, and take the construction of new smart cities as the starting point, make full use of next-generation information technologies represented by big data, cloud computing, the Internet of Things, and mobile Internet, and strive to nurture the integration of large platforms and large enterprises in the emerging fields such as the Internet and industrial Internet and promote the deep integration of information technology and real economy for the high quality transformation of economic development, the statement said.
On the basis of the central government’s circular to promote and upgrade information consumption and further unleashing the potential of domestic demand, the province will pay close attention to the implementation of work and further strengthen safeguard measures such as information consumption supervision, credit system construction, intellectual property protection, consumer safety protection, financial policy support, and statistical monitoring and evaluation by introducing more information consumption results that meet the individual needs and diversified needs of the masses so as to ensure that the people live a better life, according to the statement.
On August 24 last year, the State Council issued a circular to promote and upgrade information consumption, aimed at further unleashing the potential of domestic demand.
According to the circular, by 2020, the scale of information consumption is expected to expand to 6 trillion yuan or $901 billion, an average annual growth of over 11 percent. And the growth of the sector will drive the output of 1.5 trillion yuan from related industries.
The key fields and categories involved in the circular include those closely related to people’s daily life, public services, industrial information, and new information products.
To achieve the goal by 2020, related departments and industries were encouraged to enhance the supply and quality of information products and services, expand consumption coverage and optimize the development environment.
