Lou Qinjian, secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and the chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, gave an exclusive interview to Xinhua News Agency on hot issues such as how to answer the question raised by General Secretary Xi Jinping for Jiangsu, and how to accelerate the transition from rapid growth to high quality development.
Since the Party’s 18th National Congress, General Secretary Xi Jinping made two inspection tours to Jiangsu and gave proposals to the work of Jiangsu, demanding the province to strive to build a new economy with strong economy, enrich the people, beautify the environment, and secure high degree of social civilization that are vital to the development from high speed to high quality.
Lou said that the General Secretary felt the pulse for the development of Jiangsu, and every requirement and every instruction from the General Secretary needs us to think profoundly and contemplatively. Our responsibility is to translate the requirement into high-quality development.
It is the consistent demand of the Central Government for Jiangsu to explore the road for national development. Lou said, adding that in terms of high-quality development, the province must be self-pressurized and high-pointed with strong awareness of giving the best possible answers for the promotion of high-quality development to be at the forefront of the country’s overall development.
The provincial CPC chief believes that innovation-driven is the key to promoting the transformation of Jiangsu’s manufacturing to intelligent manufacturing, the shift of Jiangsu speed to Jiangsu quality, and the transition of Jiangsu products to Jiangsu brands. It is necessary to follow the law of innovation, foster a fine environment, lay out the industrial chain around the innovation chain, sharpen the province’s core competitiveness in the frontier areas of innovation, and boost the total factor productivity.
He said that hard work is our best answer to this great era. We must act in accordance with the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, work creatively based on the actual conditions of the province, and use good mechanisms to motivate everyone to boldly experiment and forge ahead to bring the province’s development into the new realm through a new round of reform and opening up.
