East China’s Jiangsu province is ready to kick off its annual legislative session on Friday, the general office of the provincial people’s congress said Wednesday.
808 members have been elected to the session.
The preparatory committee has finished working on the draft version of the six reports to be delivered during the session.
The head of the provincial supervisory commission will be elected during the session in line with the country’s decision to establish a national supervisory commission by March 2018 as part of the country's anti-corruption campaign.
Supervisory commissions will be set up across the country by the People's Congresses at provincial, city and county-levels within their jurisdiction to supervise those exercising public power.
Meanwhile, newly elected leaders of the legislature, the government, the supervisory commission and the court will pledge allegiance to the Constitution during the session.
In order to promote Jiangsu's international influence, the provincial leaders will for the first time meet with the legislators from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan as well as those from overseas Chinese communities and foreign friends to solicit their opinions and suggestions on Jiangsu's economic and social development, democratic rule of law construction, opening up to the outside world and innovation.
