The foreign trade volume in Jiangsu province hit 4 trillion yuan last year, reaching a historic high and achieving higher growth than the national average, latest statistics show.
The province’s foreign trade volume totaled over 4 trillion yuan last year, up 19.1% from a year ago and 4.9% higher than the national average.
The growth of the foreign trade volume also tops that of all the coastal provinces in the country.
The volume of export totaled 2.46 trillion yuan, up 16.9% year on year. The volume of import reached 1.54 trillion yuan, up 22.6% year on year.
With the growth of scale, the quality and efficiency of foreign trade have also been greatly improved.
The volume of general trade reached 1.92 trillion yuan last year, growing 19.5% from a year ago and accounting for 48.1% of the provincial total. The volume of processing trade hit 1.64 trillion yuan, up 15.5% from a year ago and accounting for 41.2% of the provincial total.
The export of electric and mechanic products made up 65.8% of the total foreign trade volume last year by registering 1.62 trillion yuan, up 18.1% year on year.
The export of cell phones, tablet computers and laptop computers reached 90.6 billion yuan, 44.8 billion yuan and 136.8 billion yuan respectively, contributing to the overall growth of the foreign trade by 18.1% year on year.
