The 11th Provincial Conference on Social Sciences and the special session on Marxism went underway Thursday morning in Nanjing Normal University. Wang Yanwen, head of the provincial publicity department, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.
Wang, who is also a member of the standing committee of the CPC Jiangsu provincial committee, remarked that the theoretical front of social science is the vanguard and forerunner of the party's ideological and theoretical construction. The scholars of social sciences must exploit the power of truth, logical, belief and value of the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era and enhance the political, theoretical and emotional identifications with the cadres and masses.
The comrades of social science and theoretical front must serve their roles as the studious and diligent forerunners, the committed and persevering disseminators, the truth seeker of the research and analysis and the pioneers who spearhead the practices, the publicity chief said.
Lectures were given by renowned scholars Zhang Yibing, Guo Jianning and Wang Yonggui.
