Nanjing hosts global services trade conference

  The inaugural global services trade conference was kicked off Thursday in Nanjing. The China Services Trade Innovative Development Report was released at the opening ceremony. 

  Qian Keming, vice minister of commerce, and Zhang Jinghua, chief of the CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee, attended the opening ceremony which was presided over by Miao Ruilin, mayor of Nanjing. 

   The conference, first of its kind in China, runs from Sept 13 to 15. Forums will be held on various service sectors, including healthcare, culture and tourism.  

  More than 600 global executives, government officials and experts were invited to contribute their opinions of China's services trade and the promotion of Nanjing’s influence on the world stage. 

  The conference is co-hosted by the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation and the city government of Nanjing.

  The conference also released the China Services Trade Innovation Development Report, which shows that China's services trade in the world's second largest. With the emergence of new things such as big data, Internet, mobile payment and sharing economy, the competitiveness of China's services trade is shifting from traditional service industries, such as tourism and transportation, to some new fields such as telecommunications, computer and information services.
