Li Qiang, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, and Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu, met separately on Tuesday with Morris Chang chairman of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. or TSMC for short.
Li Qiang extended his warm welcome to Morris Chang for his visit to Jiangsu and his congratulations on the smooth progress of TSMC’s project in Nanjing.
A new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial revolution cannot be separated from the development of semiconductor industry, Li Qiang said.
The CPC provincial chief noted that Jiangsuenjoys a solid foundation in its manufacturing industry and the huge resources in the pool of technological and educational talents.
The TSMC investment project in Nanjing has come at the critical time when the province is speeding up its development of the integrated circuit sector to conform to the momentum of cross-strait economic integration, which is expected to contribute to the creation of new brilliance by TSMC and have a far-reaching influence on the province’s promotion of the IC sector, the CPC provincial chief said.
Li Qiang pledged that Jiangsu will give firm support to TSMC for its growth momentum in Jiangsu by respecting and strengthening the intellectual property rights of TSMC and other Taiwanese-funded enterprises in Jiangsu to safeguard their rights and interests and promote the mutual benefit and the development of the two sides with a more fair and efficient business environment.
Morris Chang extended his gratitude to the CPC provincial committee and the provincial government for their long-term support given to TSMS’s Nanjing project, adding that the project is being promoted in smooth progress with the service system of the current overall plant and the workshops being basically completed to pave the way for its scheduled operation in October next year.
He also pledged his firm support for the development of the semiconductor sector in Nanjing for the promotion of the mutually beneficial cooperationbetween Jiangsu and Taiwan.
