An exhibition of Nanjing Massacre documents is going on at an urban community in Nanjing in celebration of the upcoming victory day of the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japan that falls on September 3rd.

Organized by the Yijiangmen sub-district government, the exhibition is going on at the Fujian Road Community in Nanjing.

The meeting room has been converted into a makeshift exhibition hall to display the photos shot by the invading Japanese troops in Nanjing, the military supplies used by the defending Chinese armies and the invading Japanese troops.

The documents also included the original reports carried by American, British, French and Italian newspapers and magazines on Japanese army’s atrocities in Nanjing.

Documents revealing Communist-led forces fighting Japanese troops in the rear areas were also exhibited.

Among other exhibits were 20 file photos shot on the Yijiangmen areas and 80 pieces of heritages related to the Chinese people’s war of resistance against Japanese aggression.

The documents, photos and heritages were contributed by the research association on the Nanjing Massacre and the Nanjing Aviation Fraternity Association.

The Nanjing Massacre represents the most brutal and savage of atrocities committed throughout the Japanese occupation of China during WWII. On Dec. 13, 1937 when Japanese invaders first occupied Nanjing, they began six weeks of destruction, pillage and slaughter in the city, which were planned, organized and purposefully executed by the Japanese Army. Over 300,000 Chinese, including defenseless civilians and unarmed soldiers, were murdered, together with countless cases of rape, looting and arson.

In 2014, the standing committee of the National People's Congress set Sept 3rd the Victory Day starting from this year to highlight the importance of China's role in the fight against Japan and the allied victory in the Second World War.
