Xu Xiaowen, a 22-year-old girl from Taizhou city, Jiangsu province, was crowned a gold, a silver, a 5th place and a 7th place at the 2017 Summer Deaflympics that came to a close in Turkey recently.

Xu Xiaowen, who comes from Xinghua County, Taizhou city, is competing in the 23rd Deaflympics on behalf of the Jiangsu cycling team for athletes with disabilities.

She claimed the gold in the women’s 70-kilometer cycling race by finishing with 2 hours 20 minutes and 53 seconds and the silver in the women’s 40-km race.

Xu was also honored with the 7th place prize in the 35-km individual time trial and the 5th place award in the 40-km point race.

The 2017 Summer Deaflympics was held at Turkey's northern province of Samsun under the sponsorship of the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf.

The Deaflympics, previously called World Games for the Deaf, and International Games for the Deaf, are an International Olympic Committee-sanctioned event at which deaf athletes compete at an elite level. Unlike the athletes in other IOC-sanctioned events, the Olympics, the Paralympics, and the Special Olympics, the Deaflympians cannot be guided by sounds. The games have been organized by the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf since the first event.
