Authorities in Xuzhou are asking donors to give more blood after collections dipped sharply because of the heat wave.
Blood collection at various locations dipped sharply due to the heat wave that started to hit the province in early July.
In July, the clinical use of blood in Xuzhou increased 10% from a year ago but virtually no blood was collected at various locations between noon and 4 pm due to the sweltering temperatures.
The city’s blood center has therefore adjusted the business hours for blood collection so that the donors can contribute their blood while enjoying the coolness in the evening.
Starting on July 26, the blood collection locations have adopted new work schedules to witness rising blood donations in one week’s time.
