9 high-level foreign experts working in Jiangsu have been funded by the national talent recruitment program, according to the shortlist of the 7th batch of funded foreign experts released by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs. Jiangsu ranked the third in the country in the number of foreign experts funded by the Recruitment Program of Global Experts or the Thousand Talents Plan. The number also set a record high over the last three years.
A total of 39 foreign experts have been included in the Thousand Talents Plan in the past seven batches, making great contribution to the province’s development of the hi-tech industry, key technologies and emerging disciplines. China initiated the Recruitment Program of Global Experts since the end of 2008, under which it would bring in overseas top talents to China over the next five to ten years. This plan called for strategic scientists or leading talents who can make breakthroughs in key technologies or can enhance China’s high-tech industries and emerging disciplines.
