The fresh Shushan red bayberries are expected to appear on the market around June 10 and become widely available from June 13.
Shushan Village has been planting this tasty fruit for more than 400 years. Thanks to the unique climate, the red bayberries grown in this area are noted for their rich juice, small pit and moderate sour-sweet taste, and were once tributes to the emperor in ancient times. They have been granted the registration certificate and the trademark of Agro-product Geographical Indications of PRC.
The white bayberries unique to Shushan
To ensure the quality of red bayberries, temporary traffic controls are in operation on the mountain roads till the picking ends. Hotels, B&Bs, caffee shops and other local businesses are open as usual, and tourists are welcome to come here and enjoy the idyllic rural life.
