The overwater construction of the Shanghai-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge was completed on Wednesday after the adjustment of waterway, marking the bridge’s imminent opening to traffic.
Three beacon boats sailed past the Shanghai-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge. The workers demolished the 17 beacons set during construction and installed 11 new beacons for water navigation. The workers also adjusted the main waterway to the north by about 50 meters to expand the space to about 500 meters so as to ensure that passing ships are diverted for safety concerns. With rail and highway commissioning tests about to begin, the Shanghai-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge is scheduled for opening in July.
