A critical care medicine specialist with Southeast University Zhongda Hospital returned to Nanjing on Thursday after fulfilling her anti-epidemic mission in northeast China’s Heilongjiang province and Jilin province.
Yang Yi is deputy director of the expert team for the treatment of COVID-19 patients under the Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission. She is also head of the critical care medicine group under the expert team.

On April 14, after fulfilling her anti-epidemic mission in Wuhan, Yang Yi was assigned by the State Council to head for Mudanjiang city, Heilongjiang province, to supervise and instruct the treatment of COVID-19 patients.
On May 14 when the critically infected cases in Mudanjiang were cleared, Yang Yi was transferred to Jilin province to treat the COVID-19 patients there.
In the 50-day frontline work, Yang Yi applied the Jiangsu experience of sober prone position ventilation and multidisciplinary cross-management into the clinical treatment in the two provinces to ensure zero deaths for critical patients.
