East China’s Jiangsu province has made every possible effort to boost infrastructure connectivity in the Yangtze River Delta and promote logistics development to ensure social and economic stability.
The Longtan Port of Nanjing is the largest and most modernized special container port area in the Yangtze River. Many freighter vessels from Yangshan Port of Shanghai and Ningbo Port of Zhejiang docked here every week.

In recent years, the Jiangsu Port Group, which supervises Longtan Port, has seized the opportunities of the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta by highlighting its advantages of the intermodal transportation system between the Yangtze River, the East China Sea and inland rivers.
Through cooperation with major ports in the Yangtze River Delta region such as Shanghai and Ningbo, the Nanjing Port has significantly improved the service efficiency of its transit routes to Shanghai Port and Ningbo Port.
At present, Jiangsu Port Group has operated nearly 200 shipping routes per week, including departure ocean routes, transit routes, and regional shuttle buses.

The number of large-scale ships entering and leaving Jiangsu ports increased by 22% year-on-year, and the volume of bulk cargo operations exceeded 120 million tons.
Tang Hongsheng, Deputy General Manager, Jiangsu Port Group:“The integrated operation of ports in the Yangtze River Delta can effectively improve the operational efficiency between ports.Expanding the navigation capacity can support the Shanghai International Shipping Center, reduce the overall logistics cost and at the same time improve the current transportation throughout the Yangtze River Delta and support the realization of green and low-carbon transportation.”
Cross-boundary transportation in the Yangtze River Delta is also being improved, as is evidenced by the Donghang Road between Qingpu district of Shanghai and Wujiang district of Suzhou.
6 of the 17 cross-boundary dead-end roads in the Yangtze River Delta are located between the Jiangsu-Shanghai boundary, according to a framework agreement signed by the transportation department in Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang and Anhui.
Geng Weirong, Deputy Director of Construction Management Committee of Qingpu District, Shanghai:“The expansion and renovation of the Donghang Road will improve the transportation connectivity between Shanghai and Jiangsu,so as to benefit large enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta. The expansion is scheduled for completion in September.”
Since early this year, Jiangsu has drafted the construction and expansion of major highways, shipping routes and high-speed railways that will boost transportation connectivity in the Yangtze River Delta.
