Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, went on an inspection tour Thursday in the provincial capital city Nanjing to learn about the province’s construction of modern comprehensive transportation system.

Lou visited the Provincial Comprehensive Transportation Emergency Command Center to check the real-time operation of major transportation hubs in the province and talked through video links with the construction workers of two major transportation projects in southern Jiangsu.
He said that as the key hubs of the province’s transportation system, the Shanghai-Nantong Highway and Railway Yangtze River Bridge and the Taihu Tunnel on the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou Expressway are of great significance for promoting the construction of the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou metropolitan area and accelerating the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
Lou Qinjian learned about the province’s planning for the construction of railways, airports, river crossings, and expressways and was briefed on the work of the Provincial Transportation Department at a symposium held on Thursday.

He pointed out that Jiangsu has made important progress in its modern comprehensive transportation system.
Lou noted that the construction of transportation infrastructure is conducive to promoting epidemic prevention and control, and to respond to various risk challenges and uncertainties.
In the process of making Jiangsu a transportation power, it is important to follow the instructions given by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his inspection tour in Jiangsu as well as the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, the CPC provincial chief said.
Lou Qinjian demanded that the province should recognize the achievements and deficiencies of its transportation development and strive to match the transportation system with the industrial system so as to support and integrate with each other.

Lou Qinjian demanded that Jiangsu should place the development of transportation within the framework of the national plan and combined with the preparation of the medium- and long-term development plan for the province's comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network so as to strengthen independent planning, further optimize the system and enhance the comprehensive effect.
He urged the province to actively integrate into the country's major strategic layout and make systematic study on how to build a large international sea-land-airway corridor, construct a comprehensive three-dimensional transportation corridor in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, improve the inter-city railway network of the urban clusters along the Yangtze River and build an airport cluster around Shanghai.
The secretary of the Provincial Party Committee asked the provincial authorities to serve the integrated development of the province, enhance the awareness of sharing and co-construction, strengthen the guidance on urban-rural development planning, promote the formation of their respective regional hubs and networks, and jointly build a coordinated and efficient provincial transportation system.
He called for efforts to promote the efficient combination of various modes of transportation, systematically plan to promote the in-depth integration of highways, high-speed rail, water transportation and civil aviation so as to create a comprehensive transportation hub with national and global influence and radiation.
