Jiangsu will take multiple measures to meet pork consumption demand in the upcoming New Year and Spring Festival holidays and strive to keep pork prices stable, according to a recent meeting on restoring hog production.
The provincial meeting on restoring hog production was held recently in Nanjing. Ren Zhenhe, deputy secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Zhao Shiyong, member of the party group of the provincial government, addressed the meeting.
Ren Zhenhe pointed out that it is important to enhance political stance, understand the extreme importance and realistic pertinence of stable hog production and supply for the New Year's Day and the Spring Festival, and treat the restoration of hog production, increasing market supply, stabilizing market prices, and protecting the lives of the people as a major issue concerning the current work of "agriculture, rural areas and farmers".
He pointed out that the work of restoring hog production should be promoted in accordance with the deployment of the Party Central Committee, the State Council, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government so as to comprehensively implement various support policies for hog production at the national and provincial levels, take various measures to ensure market supply, reasonably guide market expectations, and stabilize pork market prices.
More efforts should be made to strengthen the supervision of the pork market, resolutely crack down on illegal activities such as the sale of sick and dead hogs, and water-injected pork and resolutely investigate and punish illegal acts such as hoarding, driving up prices, and controlling the market, the deputy provincial secretary said.
Zhao Shiyong said the restoration of hog production should be carried out with a strong sense of responsibility so that all measures will be implemented effectively.
