A wonderful ballet performance Giselle was performed in Jiangsu Center for Performing Arts Friday and Saturday, bringing Nanjing audience the world’s best-loved ballets live on stage.
Presented by Australian Ballet, Giselle is a two-act ballet telling about a peasant girl named Giselle, who dies of a broken heart after discovering her lover is betrothed to another. A masterwork in the classical ballet performance canon, this ballet was first performed in 1841 and has been staged by many world-famous ballet groups. With original and unique staging and lighting, the Australian Ballet was bringing to us its celebrated production.
Giving approximately 200 performances a year, the Australian Ballet claims to be the busiest ballet company in the world. Touring to Nanjing for the first time, Australian Ballet was expected to bring more celebrated productions here to let people experience the art and beauty of ballet.
