The overall performance of new vehicle safety is better than that in the past, according to this year's fourth batch of new vehicle crash test released by the China Automotive Technology Research Center on Tuesday.
17 new vehicles were involved in the crash test with 15 five-star models and 2 four-star models. In the tested models, there are 12 of SUV models, accounting for relatively high percentage and in line with the mainstream trend of the market. In addition, these vehicles have increased the safety protection technology for the occupants.
In 2017, a total of 40 models of new vehicles were involved in crash test, showing the vehicle safety configuration is constantly improving. China's new vehicle safety impact evaluation procedures will be put into effect on July 1 next year. The rules will increase safety test on pedestrian protection and automatic emergency braking system in a bid to enhance vehicle safety test.
Meanwhile, China Automotive Technology Research Center also announced the results of safety impact test on 15 domestic child safety seats and 5 imported brands. The results showed the quality of the children's safety seats differ widely from one to another.
Experts pointed out that these children's safety seats, tested in accordance with the 2017 rules for evaluation, are the mainstream products on the market. At the same time, the scope of evaluation is enlarged and the evaluation index is perfected, which is more instructive to consumers.
