Theatrical performances have been staged since the start of October to entertain the local people in various parts of the province.
"Peony Pavilion", a masterpiece of the Kunqu opera, has been staged in Kunshan, the birthplace of Kunqu opera.
The performance was backed up by eight professional Kun Opera troupes and 55 Kunqu masters from Beijing, Hong Kong, Taiwan and some other places.
19 performing artists have won the Chinese drama’s top award the Plum Award on 21 occasions.
The extremely rare lineup of performing masters attracted a large throng of audience who filled the auditorium to full capacity.
In the meantime, Shaoxing operas and Huaihai operas were staged in Taizhou and Yancheng respectively with performing artists from Zhejiang and Jiangsu entertaining the audience amidst the bursts of applause and laughter.
