Procuratorates in various parts of Jiangsu province have spared no efforts to recover over 200 million yuan in wage arrears over the past three years, according to a press conference held Thursday in Nanjing.
Support for prosecution refers to the situation where a party whose civil rights and interests have been infringed upon and fails to protect their legitimate rights and interests after performing their duties in accordance with the law, but they dare not sue due to weak litigation capacity or various reasons. The procuratorate can provide assistance through comprehensive use of assistance in collecting evidence, coordinating the provision of legal aid, and some other means.
Since 2021, procuratorial organs in Jiangsu have issued a total of 14351 supporting lawsuits involving the recovery of labor remuneration, social insurance benefits, and the interests of civil subjects with weak litigation capabilities that include migrant workers, minors, the elderly, disabled persons, women, and some others.
“Since 2021, the procuratorial organs in the province have handled a total of 9582 cases supporting migrant workers recover over 200 million yuan in wage arrears. At the same time, efforts have been made to steadily explore and support lawsuits in areas such as personal information protection, intellectual property protection, and protection of the rights and interests of workers in new forms of employment,” said Zhou Hexing, Director of the Sixth Prosecutor's Department of Jiangsu Provincial Procuratorate.
The procuratorial organs have also given full play to their functions to promote the systematic governance of related issues at the source. In response to the wage arrears of migrant workers, the procuratorial organs, in conjunction with courts, human resources and social security departments, have established a cooperative mechanism workstation to root out wage arrears and use support for litigation to help migrant workers win lawsuits.
