East China’s Jiangsu province recorded 60.76 billion yuan worth of exports of various types of ships from January to November, a year-on-year increase of 43.4%, continuing to rank first in the country, according to statistics from the Nanjing Customs. In November alone, Jiangsu reached a historic high in the export of various types of ships totaling 8.18 billion yuan.

Under the supervision of Yangzhou Customs, Yangzhou-based New Ocean Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. has recently delivered for export a 64000-ton bulk carrier.

Since the beginning of this year, the ship maker has increased its research and development investment in green environmental protection, intelligent manufacturing, and some other areas in a bid to promote innovation and breakthroughs in shipbuilding technology by making the ship design emission indicators at the global leading level among similar ships, installing an intelligent energy efficiency management system, and relying on the intelligent technology such as industrial big data analysis and machine learning to optimize daily ship operations. At present, the company holds 59 orders, and export orders have been scheduled for 2026.

“This is the upgraded version of CROWN63 3.0 that we have newly developed this year. Our product has a relatively high international reputation, and we have signed contracts for a total of over 60 ships,” said Chen Herong, Executive Vice General Manager of New Ocean Shipbuilding Yangzhou Co., Ltd.

Since the beginning of this year, influenced by factors such as improved international trade demand, Yangzhou has recorded a surge in ship exports, with the year-on-year growth rate of new orders, orders to be fulfilled, and export amounts exceeding the national average.

To further assist the export of ships, Yangzhou Customs has implemented the "report and dispatch, appointment and clearance" service, which enables the "upon arrival" processing of procedures such as boarding quarantine, ship supply material review, and exit certificate issuance so as to have improved the efficiency of export operations and accelerated the turnover of ship products.

“In the next step, we will focus on the needs of foreign trade enterprises and ports, optimize regulatory processes, improve inspection efficiency, facilitate the clearance and export of new ships, and help ship export firms accelerate their development,” said Ding Jinxiang, Transport Vehicle Supervision Department of Yangzhou Customs Office at Yangzhou Port.

Jiangsu has continuously promoted the construction of a world-class advanced shipbuilding and marine industry cluster, as is evidenced by the emergence of the Yangtze River shipbuilding industry belt from Qidong in the east to Yizheng in the west.

The high-tech shipbuilding and marine equipment clusters in Nantong, Taizhou, and Yangzhou have been selected as national advanced manufacturing clusters. Nantong, Taizhou, and Yangzhou have proposed to strive for a global market share of around 20% for ships and marine equipment by 2025.

From January to November, Taizhou, Nantong, and Yangzhou recorded increase of ship exports by 40.4%, 134.7%, and 67.4%.
