Authorities in the city of Nanjing have made every effort to upgrade old residential quarters to enhance the safe operation and social stability of cities, as well as the modernization of social governance capabilities and governance systems, according to a press conference held on Tuesday in Nanjing.
Nanjing has completed the renovation of 643 buildings with a building area of 1.8617 million square meters in 72 old residential areas, benefiting 24300 households. The renovation of 15 residential areas has been selected as a provincial-level livable demonstration residential area in 2022.
At present, 914 out of 2597 property management companies in Nanjing manage 6752 residential communities, with over 160000 property workers.
In Xuanwu District, there are a total of 577 residential communities, including 447 old communities. Many old residential areas lack property management, thus giving rise to frequent conflicts and disputes. To this end, Xuanwu Urban Construction Group has established Baizi Property Company to take over the property services of the old residential quarters in the entire district.
No. 16-44 Xijia Datang Community, Xuanwu District, was built in the 1970s and has a total of 210 households. In 2020, Baizi Property began providing services in the community.
“We have opened a gas station, hair salon, consultation services, elderly meal assistance, allocated a small plot of land for residents to grow vegetables, set up charging stations, and marked off some parking spaces,” said Huang Jianbo, Project Manager of Xuanwu Gate Branch of Baizi Property of Urban Construction Group in Xuanwu District.
As of now, Baizi Property has served 279 residential areas in Xuanwu District, with an area of 5.64 million square meters, serving 69 thousand households and greatly improving the quality of life of residents.
In the meantime, Nanjing has installed 320 elevators for old residential buildings since the start of this year, adding up to a total of 1911.
