The tourism market has been heated up recently due to the upcoming New Year's Day holiday and the visa waivers in some countries.

Travel agencies in the province have reported a significant increase in travel bookings for the New Year holiday from the same period of last year. Air ticket prices have increased by about 10% from a month ago, and hotel booking prices have increased by nearly 20%. The booking of flights and hotels during the Spring Festival holiday has increased by two-fold year-on-year.

“At present, tourist routes to Hainan, Northeast China, or Yunnan Guizhou offer suitable prices, ranging from over 2000 yuan to high-end prices of five to six thousand yuan. During the New Year period, prices will rise. If you have plans to travel, it is recommended to prepare in advance,” said Gao Jing, Front Desk Manager of Xuzhou Shenzhou Travel Agency Co., Ltd.

Some countries offer visa free entry for Chinese citizens with different time limits, making Singapore and Malaysia popular destinations for outbound travel. According to tourism platform data, the search volume for flights to Singapore has recently increased by 90%, and the search volume for hotels has increased by 50%.

“Singapore is a suitable destination, as it is not particularly far away, and there are many attractions, so we have more choices,” said Ms. Dai, a resident of Suzhou.

“This is indeed a time-saving, labor-saving, and cost-effective solution. Free travel may increase as visa waiver is more convenient for everyone,” said Xu Dan, Manager of a Travel Agency in Suzhou.
