East China’s Jiangsu province held various volunteer service activities on Monday to convey and promote the spirit of volunteer service. Let’s take a close look.
The city of Changzhou has launched the Yangtze River New Era Civilization Practice Concentrated Action by using the new era civilization practice as a link, integrating and gathering the cultural forces of cities along the Yangtze River, and composing the song of the new era Yangtze River civilization.
Changzhou also released a map of the Yangtze River New Era Civilization Practice Belt. A flag-giving ceremony was held for the Changzhou Yangtze River New Era Civilization Practice Volunteer Service Team.
Volunteers from Changzhou, Nantong, Yangzhou in Jiangsu, as well as cities along the Yangtze River such as Luzhou in Sichuan, Jingzhou in Hubei, and Wuhu in Anhui, jointly issued the "Yangtze River New Era Civilization Practice Alliance Initiative".
"We will lead them to participate in the practice of civilization in the new era of the Yangtze River, with the aim of reflecting the integration of resources along the riverbank, leading more people to come closer to the Yangtze River and experience it, and working together to paint a beautiful new picture of the Yangtze River," said Cui Ying, First Grade Superintendent of Party and Mass Work Department of Changzhou Maritime Bureau.
Shangxian Community in Wuxi Economic Development Zone has joined hands with public welfare organizations to carry out a community participatory volunteer mutual assistance service project, encouraging elderly residents to deeply participate in community volunteer activities, including regular participation in community charity performances, sending warmth to lonely elderly people, and supervising the rectification of uncivilized phenomena in the community.
"We can enrich our leisure life by thanking the community for providing us with such a platform, which allows us to enjoy our old age through learning," said Du Tao, a resident of Shangxian Community in Wuxi Economic Development Zone.
The volunteer service team of Reed Home, a public welfare organization in Zhenjiang, repaired wheelchairs for people with disabilities. Volunteers in Kunshan will send the woven scarves to the charity association by donating 5300 scarves to Atush City, Xinjiang to local public security officers.
