East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up the construction of major investment projects and ensured their smooth progress through every possible effort so as to fulfill goals for social and economic development. JSBC has the story.

Kunshan opened to traffic on Saturday an 851-meter-long road that connects with Shengli Road in Qingpu District of Shanghai. By constructing a new bridge on the Wusong River, Kunshan City in Jiangsu Province and Qingpu District in Shanghai are connected.

In the past, residents from both places had to detour eight or nine kilometers when traveling by taking 20 minutes. Now, with the opening of this dead-end road, residents from both places can travel back and forth in just two minutes.

Also joined on Saturday is the 4.2-kilometer-long renovation project of the Waiqingsong Highway, which starts from Baishi Road in Qingpu District of Shanghai in the south and ends at Greenland Avenue in Kunshan City in the north. The connection of the two inter-provincial dead-end roads has greatly shortened the time for travel for residents in Shanghai and Suzhou, and also marked the completion of all six "dead-end roads" connecting Shanghai and Suzhou.

Jiangsu is accelerating the construction of the Qingshan Tunnel on the Yizheng-Lukou Airport Expressway. The builders are carrying out concrete leveling and water collection operations on the waterproof protective layer of the roof, striving to create a seamless tunnel that is leak proof.

The 1778-meter-long Qingshan Tunnel is the first tunnel in the history of Yangzhou’s expressway construction. The 95-kilometer-long Yizheng-Lukou Airport Expressway starts from the planned Nanjing-Yancheng Expressway, passes through Yizheng and Jurong, and ends at Nanjing Lukou International Airport.
