97 Jiangsu-based enterprises have been shortlisted for the first batch of 5G factories nationwide out of a total of 300 nationwide, according to the first ever 5G Factory Directory released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The 5G factory refers to an advanced factory that brings into full play the integration of the new generation of information and communication technology represented by 5G, creates a new industrial internet infrastructure, and forms a wide connection of production units, deep integration of information operations, and full utilization of data elements.
The 97 Jiangsu-based 5G factories shortlisted in the national list focus on 16 key industrial clusters and 50 key industrial chains in various emerging and traditional industries.
In recent years, Jiangsu has seized the opportunity of a new round of global industrial transformation centered on information technology, and strengthened the new advantages of Jiangsu manufacturing through large-scale intelligent transformation and digital transformation.
In the process of intelligent manufacturing, especially the construction of 5G factories, Jiangsu has increased the supply of infrastructure, funds, technology, talent and other factors.
So far, Jiangsu has built over 237 thousand 5G base stations with the standard number of data center racks reaching 550 thousand and the total computing power scale ranking first in the country. The special funds for industrial and information industry transformation and upgrading have invested no less than 1.2 billion yuan to support the construction of intelligent transformation and digital upgrading projects. In the past two years, the prefecture level cities have provided equipment subsidies of 4.6 billion yuan for intelligent transformation and digital upgrading, stimulating enterprises to invest 80 billion yuan in equipment.
From intelligent workshops, intelligent factories, to 5G factories, Jiangsu has ranked first in the country for eight consecutive years in terms of the integration of information technology and industrialization. Its High-Quality Development Index of the manufacturing industry has ranked first in the country for three consecutive years.
“Jiangsu has insisted on making intelligent manufacturing the main focus of building a strong manufacturing province by regarding the digital economy as a key increment for transformation and development. As of the end of October, Jiangsu had implemented about 50000 intelligent transformation and digital upgrading projects, and completed about 19000 transformation projects for enterprises. Jiangsu will build more 5G factories to enhance its competitive advantage in facing domestic and foreign markets and the future,” said Chi Yu, Deputy Director, Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology.
