East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up the construction of major investment projects and ensured their smooth progress through every possible effort so as to fulfill goals for social and economic development. JSBC has the story.

The first shared energy storage station in East China was connected to the grid in Nantong on Wednesday. By uploading 120 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually, it will become the largest electrochemical energy storage station in Jiangsu.

Adopting prefabricated cabin layout, the energy storage equipment of this project utilizes the fast response characteristics of electrochemical energy storage, which can participate in peak shaving operation of the power grid, assist in peak shaving and valley filling, and increase energy efficiency.

“Compared with traditional gravity energy storage pumped storage power stations, its utilization efficiency is higher and can reach over 85%,” said Wu Qinlin, Head of New Energy Business at the Supervision Branch of Nantong Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd.

After being connected to the grid, this project can achieve two charges and two discharges per day, with a single storage capacity of about 400000 kilowatt hours and a single discharge capacity of over 340000 kilowatt hours. Based on a household's daily electricity consumption of 6 kWh, it can meet the daily electricity demand of nearly 60000 households.

Shared energy storage stations have broken the traditional "one-to-one" correspondence between energy storage stations and power generation stations, shifting towards a "1-to-N" relationship, equivalent to a giant shared "power bank".

The launch and use of the "Super Power Bank" will become an important means of grid connected consumption and peak shaving of new energy in Jiangsu, making the power supply in the province and its surrounding areas more economical and efficient, and assisting in the construction of a new energy system in Jiangsu.

Jiangsu has started construction of the cable-stayed bridge for the main channel of the Changzhou-Taixing Yangtze River Bridge. The world's largest span highway railway cable-stayed bridge with a main span of 1208 meters will be built by using 312 parallel steel wire cables with the longest measuring about 633 meters and weighing about 110 tons.

“We have completed the tensioning of 6 pairs of diagonal cables, and also installed the tower ends for the 7th and 8th pairs. It is expected that by July next year, the steel truss beams will be able to be joined and the cable-stayed construction will be completed,” said Jiang Weiwei, Assistant Manager of the Changzhou-Taixing Yangtze River Bridge Project.

The 10.03-kilometer-long Changzhou-Taixing Yangtze River Bridge will provide strong transportation support for the integrated development of both sides of the Yangtze River and the construction of the Yangtze River city cluster, making it of great significance for serving the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
