Jiangsu-based universities have established an international communication capacity building alliance. The launch ceremony was held Wednesday in Nanjing University’s Xianlin Campus. Zhang Aijun, member of the Standing Committee and Director of the Publicity Department of the Provincial Party Committee, delivered a speech.

Zhang Aijun said that the establishment of the alliance is an important measure to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on strengthening international communication, and it is also a positive exploration for Jiangsu to strengthen the coordinated utilization of university resources so as to continuously improve international communication efficiency.

He hoped that all member units of the alliance will focus on strengthening innovation in external discourse, actively creating new concepts, categories, and expressions that integrate China and foreign countries, deepening cultural exchanges and mutual learning, promoting important concepts and propositions such as the common values of all mankind and global civilization initiatives, and continuously improving international communication efficiency.

Zhang required all member units to grasp the laws of communication, improve communication efficiency, carefully plan and produce integrated media products that contain Chinese values and spirit, and are easy for foreign audiences to understand and accept. He also encouraged foreign experts, scholars, and young international students to carry out international communication by spreading Chinese stories and introducing world stories, and better promoting mutual understanding and integration.

At the founding ceremony, Tan Tieniu, secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing University and academician of the CAS, delivered a speech. The Initiative for Jiangsu-based University to Strengthen International Communication Capacity Building was announced. Three experts were hired as the consultants of the alliance.
