Monday marks the 43rd World Food Day, and the main venue of the 2023 World Food Day and National Food Security Awareness Week was held in Nanjing.
Liu Huanxin, member of the Party Group of the National Development and Reform Commission, and Secretary and Director of the Party Group of the State Grain and Materials Reserve Bureau, delivered a speech. Hui Jianlin, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the United Front Work Department of the Provincial Party Committee, and Sheikh Ahaduzaman, Acting Representative of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in China, delivered speeches respectively.
Liu Huanxin pointed out that the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China made an important deployment to comprehensively consolidate the foundation of food security, emphasizing the establishment of a big food concept and the construction of a diversified food supply system.
We will start from better meeting the needs of the people for a better life, conscientiously implement the concept of big food, optimize the food supply structure, and meet the increasingly diverse food consumption needs of the people.
We will always tighten the string of food security, continuously improve our capacity for collection and storage regulation, deepen the promotion of high-quality food projects, and continuously create new prospects for international cooperation in the field of food.
Hui Jianlin said that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Jiangsu has deeply implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping's important statement on "agriculture, rural areas, and farmers" work by resolutely fulfilling its political responsibility for food security so that its grain production has remained stable at over 35 billion kilograms for nine consecutive years.
In the new era and new journey, Jiangsu will comprehensively consolidate the foundation of food security, strictly implement the comprehensive responsibility of party and government departments for farmland protection and food security, establish a big food concept, actively develop rich and diverse food varieties, continuously improve the grain "production, purchase, storage, and sales" system, and ensure the stable and safe supply of grain and important agricultural products.
