East China’s Jiangsu province reported smooth and orderly transportation during the golden-week holiday that comprises of the National Day holiday and the Mid-Autumn Festival. JSBC has the story.
During the holiday, the demand for travel was released, and the traffic volume increased significantly from last year.
During the holiday, the Jiangyin Yangtze River Bridge passed 5112 cars per hour on one side of traffic, setting a historical record for 24 years of operation.
According to the statistics of the Provincial Traffic Police Corps, as of 13:00 on October 6th, the province recorded 30.051 million vehicles in highway traffic flows. From September 29th to October 5th, the daily average traffic volume was 4.075 million vehicles, setting a new historical high.
September 29th was the highest day for holiday vehicle travel, with a peak daily flow of 4.398 million vehicles, an increase of 94.4% from the same period of 2019.
“We required all staff to be on duty, and an additional 120 police officers were dispatched to support traffic patrols. We strengthened the joint service of highways by linking highway traffic police, urban traffic police, fire squads, medical rescue, highway traffic law enforcement, and highway companies to quickly and efficiently handle high-speed traffic accidents and congestion. At the same time, there will be no punishment for the first minor violation of laws by vehicles from outside Changzhou,” said He Yifan, Deputy Director of the Traffic Command Center of the Traffic Police Detachment of Changzhou Public Security Bureau.
During the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, more than 148000 police officers were deployed in Jiangsu, and more than 379000 cases of various traffic violations were investigated.
During the holiday period, the railways in the Yangtze River Delta sent an average of over 3 million passengers per day, and the passenger flow continued to operate at a high level. The Shanghai-Nanjing Yangtze River High Speed Railway, which was put into operation on September 28th, brought great convenience to people along the line, with a passenger occupancy rate of over 80% during the holiday.
The railway stations in Jiangsu did their best to guide passengers and establish a transportation connection plan between the railway stations and the urban areas to ensure that passengers could set off as soon as possible.
