The 6th Silk Road Dunhuang International Cultural Expo went underway on Wednesday in Dunhuang city of northwest China’s Gansu province.
Focusing on the theme of "Communicating the World: Cultural Exchange and Mutual Learning of Civilizations", this year's Dunhuang Cultural Expo will delve into the essence of Silk Road culture and carry out comprehensive, multi-channel, and high-level cultural exchanges and cooperation.
More than 1200 guests from over 50 countries, regions, and international organizations attended this year's Dunhuang Cultural Expo. Many enterprises have brought characteristic products in fields such as cultural creativity and cultural tourism integration.
The main exhibition hall showcased a batch of cultural and creative products with regional characteristics, including Dunhuang clay paintings and caisson seals. Xinjiang exhibited handicrafts including Hotan Jade, and set up an intangible cultural heritage experience area. Wooden molds engraved with flowers, water bottles and other patterns were arranged and combined into exquisite patterns through printing, stamping and other processes.
“It is a type of printing called wooden stamp printing, which is used by ordinary people to print patterns of our own daily necessities on their white cloth, such as bed curtains, tablecloths, and sofa cushions. We developed this product to make people in other parts of the country aware of our Uyghur intangible cultural heritage”, Chen Liangde, an exhibiter from Xinjiang, said.
This year's Dunhuang Cultural Expo also set up academic forums, artistic performances and other activities, and held 9 exhibitions including the "Art Collection Silk Road - Silk Road Childhood" Shanghai Cooperation Organization National Children's Art Exhibition, showcasing cultural relics, works of art, and cultural and creative products along the Silk Road.
Five annual sessions of the Dunhuang Cultural Expo have been held, making it an important international exchange platform for promoting mutual understanding between countries.
“I am very pleased to participate in the Dunhuang Cultural Expo. Through this event, we have the opportunity to showcase unique traditions, arts, and heritage to the world, which is also conducive to strengthening cultural exchanges with China and promoting cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries”, Sulgun Berdiyeva, an exhibitor from Turkmenistan, said.
