East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up the construction of major investment projects and ensured their smooth progress through every possible effort so as to fulfill goals for social and economic development. JSBC has the story.

With the completion of the final box girder erection of Shengze Bridge, the main line bridge of the Jiangsu section of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou High-Speed Railway is fully connected.

“Our prefabricated box girder has a length of 32.6 meters, a width of 12.6 meters, and a weight of over 820 tons. During the beam erection process, we have more than 20 continuous beams that involve crossing obstacles. We have adopted the ‘low level disassembly and degradation’ technology to overcome difficulties such as long-distance transportation of the box girder”, Yin Zhenhai, Department Manager of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou Railway of China Railway 19th Bureau Group, said.

The Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou High-Speed Railway starts from Shanghai Hongqiao Station in the east, passes through Wujiang District of Suzhou, and ends in Huzhou City of Zhejiang province in the west. Upon its operation in 2024, the railway will become a backbone network component of the Yangtze River Delta railway network.

Starting from September 6th, the construction team began paving the asphalt upper layer of the Jianhu-Xinghua section of the Funing-Liyang Expressway, marking the final sprint of the overall project construction.

The asphalt paving is expected to be completed in mid to late October so as to facilitate technical personnel to test indicators such as compaction, water seepage, and flatness.

“We have equipped end expansion and contraction at the end of the paver to ensure automatic expansion and contraction in the wider part of the bridge deck, without the need for manual replenishment. In addition, we have used hot asphalt for joint filling on the edges of the bridge to reduce rainwater erosion of the road surface in the later stage”, Tian Pu, Manager of the Jianhu-Xinghua Section of the Funing-Liyang Expressway, said.

The 71.72-kilometer Jianhu-Xinghua section of the Funing-Liyang Expressway is designed with four lanes in both directions and a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour. When opening to traffic in 2024, this expressway will play a positive role in promoting the coordinated development of central, southern, and northern Jiangsu.
