East China’s Jiangsu province held a slew of activities to mark the annal edition of China Charity Day and Jiangsu Charity Week. Let’s take a close look.
A charity and fun sports event was held on Xinsheng Street in the urban area of Suqian, attracting the participation of children and parents. The competition was not only about physical strength and intelligence, but also about the cooperation and tacit understanding between parents and children.
“We encourage children to understand the purpose of an event during Charity Week and explore the channels of donation in a more interesting way”, Han Yushan, a resident of Suqian, said.
The organizers of this event also gave a school opening gift package to the needy children.
The Charity Federation of Qingjiangpu District, Huai'an City organized a "flea market activity" for children, where they set up street stalls to convey their public welfare strength.
“The flea market can sell our idle items to others for recycling, and also donate the income to charity associations to pass on our love to families in need”, Zhang Zhixin, a student, said.
The First People's Hospital of Kunshan City has launched a series of public welfare projects to provide multifaceted and multiform rescue activities for patients from disadvantaged families. Ms. Bao, a citizen of Kunshan, suffers from thyroid cancer, and the project public welfare has helped her submit an application. After relevant review, Ms. Bao received over 5000 yuan in funding.
“All self-funded expenses beyond medical insurance reimbursement are sponsored and supported by our fund”, Zhou Qin, Deputy Chief Physician of the Department of Breast Surgery, Kunshan First Hospital, Suzhou, said.
So far, Jiangsu has registered or recognized 813 charitable organizations, and established over 100 thousand volunteer service teams. 99800 certified social workers have achieved full coverage of social work service stations at the township and sub-district levels.
