The third Model United Nations Conference of Canal Cities closed in Yangzhou on Sunday. During the three-day conference, nearly 300 young students from home and abroad gathered by the Grand Canal to discuss the rules of procedure of the Model United Nations, discuss global hot issues, and help the sustainable development of the canal cities worldwide.
During the meeting, young students at home and abroad carried out simulation discussions around issues such as "food security system based on new food technology" and "carbon emission reduction to mitigate climate change".
“Today we simulated the goal of the United Nations refugee agency to achieve the protection of refugees and asylum-seekers”, a student from Hangzhou said.
“I am representing my own country to participate in this event. Our discussion topic is about the future of young people, and I also hope to do some work in the field of international education”, an Indonesian student, said.
As a high-level international educational academic activity, the Model United Nations Conference has become an important and effective way to cultivate global talents by closely following international current events, actively responding to the United Nations initiative, calling on young people to pay attention to global development and ecological civilization construction, and promoting the realization of global Sustainable Development Goals. Since 2021, Yangzhou has played host to three Model United Nations Conference of Canal Cities.
