East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up the construction of major transport infrastructure projects and ensured their smooth progress through every possible effort so as to fulfill goals for social and economic development.
A pre-cast box girder with a length of 30 meters and a weight of 98 tons was installed on July 22, marking the completion of the installation of 176 pre-cast box girders of the North Jiangsu Main Irrigation Canal and Huaihe River Channel Bridge, a major control point on the Huai'an Section of Provincial Highway 264.
“This marks the full connection of our super large bridge, and the next step is the cleaning work of the bridge deck, including the installation of guardrails and bridge decks”, Mao Minglei, Project manager, North Jiangsu Main Irrigation Canal and Huaihe River Channel Bridge, said.
Huai'an section of Provincial Highway 264 is 34.45km long, including 21 bridges, of which the super large bridge is the longest, the largest and the highest cost, accounting for half of the total bridge works.
As a vertical shortcut connecting the coastal ports in the central part of northern Jiangsu, the completion of Provincial Highway 264 will be of great significance for Huai'an to accelerate its integration into the Yangtze River Delta, echo the national coastal development strategy, and promote economic and social development.
In Taizhou, the expansion project of the Pingguang section of the G40 Shanghai Shaanxi Expressway, a provincial-level key transportation construction project, is progressing smoothly. The construction of the northern half of the substructure of Bridge 2 of the Jishi Grand Bridge has been completed recently.
“In the next step, we will proceed with the construction of the final 5 spans of the bridge deck system and ancillary works, mainly focusing on the integrated bridge deck pavement and anti-collision guardrails. The northern half of the entire section will be completed in mid August”, Bian Fei, Technical Director of PKG-TZ2 Bid Engineering Department, Pingguang section of the G40 Shanghai Shaanxi Expressway, said.
The expansion project of the Pingchao Guangling section of the G40 Shanghai Shaanxi Expressway will effectively promote the integrated development across the Yangtze River and improve the national highway service capacity.
