Museums and cultural venues in east China’s Jiangsu province have turned out to be the greatest attraction for students who are spending the summer vacation.
Since the beginning of the summer vacation, the Six Dynasties Museum in Nanjing has witnessed the bustle of visitors. Upon entering the museum, tourists feel as if they were living in the city of Jinling thousands of years ago and bricks and tiles, cultural relics and ancient books lead them to relive the "Six Dynasties Dream" and experience the profound Chinese civilization.
During this summer vacation, the Six Dynasties Museum opened three exhibitions: "The Capital of the Six Dynasties", "The Style of the Six Dynasties", and "Outstanding People of the Six Dynasties". The millennium old city walls, human face tiles, and celadon pottery figurines are exquisite cultural relics that tell the story of the cultural changes of the ancient capital.
“I think visiting the museum is a significant improvement on the history textbooks we have learned. I can see many physical displays, which can better feel the grandeur of Nanjing at that time and also make me more interested in history”, a tourist from Changzhou, said.
“When we watch these exhibitions, we can fully appreciate the rich history and culture of China, as well as the confidence and pride of ourselves as Chinese people when facing the world with this accumulation”, a tourist from Hangzhou, said.
Many exhibition venues have launched study tour projects with a stronger sense of experience in a bid to attract more young people to enter the cultural and museum venues and appreciate the essence of China's excellent traditional culture.
The China Grand Canal Museum in Yangzhou has launched the second exhibition of the "Canal City" series - "Dadu: Beijing City of the Yuan Dynasty", which has attracted many study tour teams, allowing everyone to immerse themselves in the charm of canal culture.
“I have learned about the history and culture of the Grand Canal, and I have also seen the cultural relics unearthed from the Grand Canal, which have given me a great harvest”, a student from Xinjiang, said.
“Through our study tour activities, teenagers can travel to seven cities in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, including Nanjing, Zhenjiang, Taizhou, where they can experience their historical and cultural heritage, red stories, ecological protection, and a lot more. They can fully understand the development of the Yangtze River culture”, Zong Suqin, Deputy Curator of Yangzhou Museum, said.
Many cultural and museum venues have gradually extended their opening hours and launched a variety of performances and interactive activities at night, in order to meet people’s needs to a greater extent.
