East China's Jiangsu province registered its tenth million self-employed businesses on Thursday morning with the issuance of the business license, making Jiangsu take the lead in the country.
At around 10 a.m. on Thursday, the Yuhua Branch of the Yuhuatai District Market Supervision Bureau of Nanjing City issued the business license for the 10 millionth self-employed business in Jiangsu Province to Zhang Kang.
Zhang Kang, who was a bakery owner eight years ago, had his entrepreneurial confidence ignited as he saw the current economic recovery, accelerated consumption recovery, and many supportive policies.
"Applying for a business license is very convenient. According to the 18 guidelines issued by Jiangsu Province and with the help of relevant departments, I obtained some loans and paid social security for my employees. I have great confidence in the environment of the big market," said Zhang Kang, Operator of a bakery in Yuhuatai District, Nanjing.
"We have arranged staff to respond to inquiries from self-employed business, guide self-employed businesses to obtain rapid approval through the entire process, while implementing the issues, opinions, and suggestions encountered in individual business policies," said Yang Kai, Director General of Yuhua Branch of Yuhuatai District Market Supervision Bureau, Nanjing.
Self-employed businesses are the most direct service providers for people's lives, and they are also an important source of employment and entrepreneurship. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Jiangsu has recorded a rapid development in the number of self-employed businesses, from 3.482 million at the end of 2012 to 10 million today, with an average annual growth of 11.1%.
In recent years, despite the impact of the epidemic, Jiangsu has maintained growth in the number of self-employed businesses thanks to the continuous creation of a good business environment as well as the targeted implementation of policies by government departments.
Since the start of this year, Jiangsu has issued 18 "rules" to promote the high-quality development of self-employed businesses by further reducing taxes and fees, reducing costs, relaxing access and flexible supervision, and supporting individual businesses to expand their strength.
As of March, Jiangsu had reported an increase of 275 thousand self-employed businesses, a year-on-year increase of 5.5%, up 46 percentage points compared with the same period last year. The self-employed businesses have continued to restore market confidence and expectations.
"The number of self-employed businesses in Jiangsu has exceeded 10 million, which is the result of the expansion of the province's economic scale, structural optimization, and quality improvement, as well as the result of long-term encouragement, support, and guidance," said Zhang Weifu, Vice President Professor, Nanjing University of Finance and Economics.
