Nantong reported 57.06 billion yuan in its total import and export with an export value of 38.16 billion yuan, an increase of 7.9%. The delivery of marine engineering ships has set a record, effectively driving the growth of the city's foreign trade exports.
At around 9:00 a.m., Nantong Qidong COSCO Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. was stepping up at its wharf the construction of the upper module of the offshore floating production storage and unloading tanker ordered by the Dutch ship owner.
Qidong COSCO Shipping Co., Ltd. has continuously improved its exports. In January, the world's largest natural gas processing platform N999 floating storage and unloading platform project was delivered.
"In the next three years, our orders are basically filled to full capacity, including wind power installation ships from Caderer Company in Denmark. The first order came into effect the year before last and is expected to be delivered in the third quarter of next year," said Qiu Ming, Deputy General Manager of Nantong Qidong COSCO Marine Engineering Co., Ltd.
The shipbuilding and marine industry is one of the six leading industries in Nantong. In recent years, Qidong has accelerated the development of marine equipment manufacturing industry by gathering a number of key enterprises such as COSCO Shipping, CIMC Pacific, Zhenhua Heavy Industry.
In the first two months, Qidong Offshore Shipbuilding Industry reported an import and export volume of 6.819 billion yuan, an increase of 260.4% compared to the same period last year.
"In order to better serve the development of the marine industry and explore the formation of a series of customs clearance guarantee systems with marine characteristics, Qidong Customs has implemented a 7x24 hour appointment inspection mode. In response to the large volume of imported equipment in the marine equipment manufacturing industry, which is inconvenient for land transportation, it has tailored solutions such as ship side supervision for marine enterprises, solving enterprise problems while reducing burden and increasing efficiency," said Sun Wangjin, 3rd level superintendent of Qidong Customs Inspection.
Located in Haimen, Nantong COSCO Marine Heavy Industry Equipment Co., Ltd. mainly produces ship supporting equipment and special lifting equipment.
At the company's installation site, workers were engaged in the closing operation of offshore wind power pile holders, which will be delivered to French customers in mid-May. In the first two months of this year, the company exported nearly US $10 million to countries and regions in Europe and China's Taiwan Province.
