East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up the construction of major investment projects and ensured their smooth progress through every possible effort so as to fulfill goals for social and economic development set forth in this year’s government work report. JSBC has the story.

The construction team has completed the construction of the subgrade, bridge, and track laying of the Yangkou-Lusi Railway from the 22-kilometer-long Lusi Station to Dongzaogang Station. The workers were working hard to carry out track maintenance, line commissioning, and station building construction to ensure that the railway will open to traffic this year.

“We have increased investment in personnel and mechanical equipment, with a total of over 1000 operating personnel and nearly 100 sets of mechanical equipment. All staff of the Project Department have made every effort to overcome the difficulties, ensuring that the first bid section of the Yangkou-Lusi Railway will be opened as scheduled on March 28”, said Zhang Diangui, Chief Engineer of Yanglu Railway Project of China Railway 24th Bureau.

With a total length of about 85 kilometers and a total investment of about 9.9 billion yuan, the Yangkou Lusi Railway is an important component of the collection and distribution system for the new Tongzhou Bay estuary by connecting the coastal port areas of Yangkou, Tongzhou Bay, Dongzao, and Lusi. With construction divided into two stages, the railway will be completed and opened to traffic in March and September.

“Yangkou-Lusi Railway is the first local railway in Jiangsu that is invested with 10 billion yuan. In accordance with the construction period goals, improving management efficiency, and strictly controlling safety and quality, we have simultaneously promoted the construction of branch lines, making contributions to the high-quality construction of Jiangsu's new sea ports”, said Wu Wenjun, EPC Project Leader of Yanglu Railway of China Railway Shanghai Design Institute.

At the 50000-ton waterway regulation site of Guanhe River Estuary, five large dredging vessels carried out a joint construction of "trailing suction vessel+cutter suction vessel" on the sea. The world's most advanced intelligent trailing suction dredger has greatly improved construction efficiency.

“So far, we have completed 8 million cubic meters of waterway dredging, accounting for 80% of the total dredging volume. We will strive to complete this project by the end of April”, said Liu Jijun, Project Manager of Guanhe River Project of Zhonggang Dredging Company of CCCC Shanghai Navigation Bureau.

This 50000-tonnage waterway regulation project will significantly improve the navigation capacity of the Guanhe waterway and the throughput of the Xiangshui Port Area of Yancheng Port, providing assistance for the development of large and medium-sized enterprises in the port area such as manufacturing, logistics, and electric power.

“This project will enable 50000 tonnage seagoing vessels to directly sail into the wharf of Xiangshui Port Area of Yancheng Port, saving about 200 million yuan in barge transport costs each year, accelerating the integrated development of sea-river transportation in Xiangshui Port Area of Yancheng City, and providing high-quality support for the development of Huanghai New Area of Yancheng City”, said Qi Yangcheng, Deputy General Manager of Yancheng Port Project Construction Management Consulting Co., Ltd.
