A program for Taiwanese people to visit Jiangsu was launched Monday at Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum in Nanjing. The Sun Yat-sen Culture Research Center for Youth on Both Sides of the Taiwan Strait was unveiled on the sidelines of the event.

The opening ceremony was attended by Zhang Zhigang, a first-class researcher from the Communication Bureau of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Feng Zhicheng, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Taiwan Affairs Office, He Chengyao, Director of the Nanjing Municipal Taiwan Affairs Office, and Wang Dongming, Director of the Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum Administration.

More than 100 guests attended the launch ceremony, including 10 Taiwanese youth who were invited to visit Jiangsu.

The Sun Yat-sen Culture Research Center for Youth on Both Sides of the Taiwan Strait was unveiled on the sidelines of the event.

The 26 bases for exchange with Taiwan signed a framework agreement for the establishment of an intercity alliance.

Sun Yat sen Memorial Hall signed cooperation agreements with three associations including the Taiwan China Youth Development Federation. Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum is the first cross-strait exchange base in Jiangsu, making it a pathfinder in the construction of Jiangsu's Taiwan exchange base.

Sun Yali, President of the Sun Yat-sen Cultural Foundation and great-grandniece of Mr. Sun Yat sen, shared her story.

Wang Xiangyu from Shanghai donated letters between his great-grandfather and his eldest son, born and raised in Taiwan, to the Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum Base for Cross-Straits Exchange.

"The best inheritance is practice. We need to see what we can do to face many of the current problems. In order to revitalize China, as Mr. Sun Yat-sen said, we are not only for China, but also hoping to have some responsibilities for the world, especially our long-cherished wish of achieving common progress.I think education is the most important thing, so we are also working hard on student exchanges, including the Sun Yat-sen Cultural Foundation. Many exchanges between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits, especially among young people, I think this is very good," said Sun Yali, President of the Sun Yat-sen Cultural Foundation and great- grandniece of Mr. Sun Yat-sen.

"When teenagers learn the Sun Yat-sen spirit, I think they have a better understanding of their own nation's need for their own things and values. The exchanges between teenagers and young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait should become more frequent," said Dong Baisheng, Vice President of the Taiwan China Youth Development Federation.

Being the first provincial-level exchange activity with Taiwan held this year, this event was guided by the Exchange Bureau of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, sponsored by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, and hosted by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Nanjing Municipal People's Government, the Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum Administration, and the Taiwan Chinese Youth Development Federation.
